Active: Fake bank SMS asking customers to 'verify' account via link

26 Jul 2026 · English

We have received multiple independent reports of SMS messages impersonating Nepali banks, asking recipients to click a link to 'verify' or 'reactivate' their account.

The link leads to a fake login page designed to capture your username, password and one-time codes.

Do not click links in unexpected SMS messages claiming to be from your bank. Type your bank's known web address directly into your browser instead, or use your bank's official app.

If you entered your details on such a page, contact your bank immediately to freeze the account and change your password.
